Our Goals

Message from Our Regional Chairperson

Greetings to the HYPEST Region!

On behalf of the Regional 2 Professionals Executive Board, I welcome you to and thank you for visiting our Regional landing page. My name is Nick Tarver, and I am excited to serve as your Regional Professionals Chairperson for the 2024-2025 term!

Our region consists of professional members residing in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Washington, D.C., West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Our international NSBE professional chapters include Germany and London. Living to uphold the NSBE Mission, "to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community", NSBE Professionals strive to “inspire the next generation of technical professionals and serve as a catalyst for transforming the culture of engineering.” We aim to accomplish this by providing networking opportunities and access to career advancement, distributing information about professional development, and encouraging our youth to pursue S.T.E.M. education and opportunities.

My vision for this NSBE year is to increase the regional professional membership with graduating seniors, establish strong communication points to inform the membership of NSBE activities and programming, spotlight chapters to showcase the unmatched success they are having for technical outreach, and partner with other regions and the NSBE Professionals Executive Board on NSBE signature programs.

With your help, I look forward to seeing many, if not all, of this come to fruition. I thank you and appreciate you allowing me the opportunity to serve as your Regional Professionals Chairperson. I welcome you to reach out with your thoughts, comments, and ideas to make this year one of the best yet!

NSBE Luv,
Nick Tarver, Lifetime Member
Region II Chairperson, 2024 - 2025
