What does an advisor do?

NSBE Jr. advisors are the main organizers of NSBE Jr. chapters. The main administrators of the chapter, advisors are responsible for:

    Providing a safe space in which students can learn, explore and grow, and holding chapter meetings one to four times a month.

    Planning engaging events and activities for students to participate in.

    Providing opportunities for academic enrichment.

    Keeping parents and guardians up to date with chapter activities.

    Sharing resources, scholarships and other opportunities with students and parents.

    Creating and adhering to a chapter budget.

    Attending monthly NSBE Jr. advisor webinars.

    Maintaining communication with the NSBE PCI team.

Establishing a NSBE Jr. Chapter

To charter or renew a NSBE Jr. chapter, the following criteria must be met: 

Must have at least five active (paid) NSBE Jr. members. National NSBE Jr. membership dues are $5 annually. A chapter may also collect additional chapter dues to cover chapter costs.

Have the following chapter executive officers assigned and active in NSBECONNECT. Instructions on how to assign chapter officers using NSBECONNECT can be found here.

  • At least one advisor (Chapter advisor must be an adult. We recommend two.)
  • President, vice president, secretary, programs chair, treasurer

Building Your Chapter

CHOOSE YOUR CHAPTER FOCUS
Chapter advisors are responsible for choosing their chapter’s overall area of focus, which can range from STEM competitions to field trips to academic enrichment. Once you establish your chapter focus and structure, you can begin to develop chapter activities. Here are examples of focus areas:

  • Community Outreach

How to renew your membership

  1. Click Renew Action Button
  2. Once you’ve reached your account homepage, click “Renew” on the red banner at the top of your screen or the tab labeled “Memberships/Subscriptions” > “View Inactive Subscriptions” and then “Renew”.
  3. Select a membership item you would like to renew on the next page.
  4. Update your personal information if needed.
  5. Follow the prompts.
  6. Verify the items in your cart for accuracy. If you selected the wrong membership type, please go back and make your changes as needed before completing payment. Membership payments are non-refundable.
  7. Submit.

Information regarding the Open Enrollment Campaign

We open enrollment for the new membership cycle on May 1st each year which will allow members an additional 2 months to renew and receive benefits. Please note that membership subscriptions are not prorated. However, if you plan on renewing your membership mid-year to qualify for registration discounts or other benefits, that is fine. However, please be aware that renewing a membership following the Annual Convention will only grant you a subscription that lasts for only a month or less. We strongly recommend waiting until May 1st to maximize your investment.
