Critical Leadership Appointment Advances NSBE’s Work in STEM Equity Heading Into the Group’s 50th Anniversary

Alexandria, VA – The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) today announced the appointment of Tiffini Andorful, Ph.D., as chief Programs and Membership officer. Dr. Andorful brings to the post vital expertise in coalition-building, postsecondary education and policy advocacy, developed during her more than two decades’ work with social-mission-driven organizations. Dr. Andorful comes to NSBE from Relay Graduate School of Education, where she served as vice president of Partnerships and Enrollment . Her tenure with NSBE begins amidst the Society’s yearlong 50th anniversary celebration, NSBE Gold, which culminates next spring.

As chief Programs and Membership officer for NSBE, Dr. Andorful is responsible for growing and strengthening the organization’s membership base and programmatic work through forward-thinking, data-and-need-driven efforts. Dr. Andorful began her career as a ninth-grade social studies teacher with Teach for America in Washington, DC, later advancing to leadership positions in education nonprofits, including Raise DC and CityBridge Education, where she developed partnerships and supported initiatives to improve outcomes for marginalized students. Dr. Andorful is adept at fostering cross-sector collaboration to advance academic success for students of color, a skill essential for those collaborating with NSBE’s collegiate leadership to advance the Society’s mission: “to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.”

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Andorful to NSBE,” said NSBE Chief Executive Officer Janeen Uzzell. “Her extensive experience and dedication to empowering students offers an invaluable synergy with our mission. Dr. Andorful’s leadership will be critical as we continue to expand opportunities for our members and strengthen our community impact.”

In addition to her other professional achievements, Dr. Andorful is the school board member-elect for Prince George’s County (Maryland) Public Schools Board of Education in District 1. With her guidance, NSBE aims to enhance its programmatic offerings and membership services, ensuring continued academic support and career and leadership opportunities for Black STEM students and professionals globally.
