Letters from
the NSBE Leadership

Greetings Six House,

My name is Brianna Delgado Buchanan Carvalho, and I am thrilled to serve as your 2025-2026 Region VI Chairperson! I am an Applied Computing (Cybersecurity) student at Arizona State University, and I could not be more excited to represent the Sixiest Region this year.

Region VI is home to resilient leaders and innovative members, spanning the states of Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Arizona, New Mexico, and Hawaii. Our reach also extends internationally into Western Canada, Baja Mexico, Asia, and the South Pacific Australia.

As we celebrate the milestone of 50 years and look forward to the next 50, I want us to stay rooted in our success. That why my directive this year is to ‘Tend to the STEM, and the forest will flourish .’ Like strong roots nature a forest, this principle will guide not only our Regional Executive Board, but also our chapters to cultivate growth, strengthen our Region, and ensure it continues to flourish for generations to come.

Let’s break down STEM:

Strengthening the Region-Chapter relationship: How can we provide support to chapters need, especially during this administration, to ensure every member feels connected and empowered?
Thriving towards academic success: How can we instill academic success not only within our Regional board, but throughout every chapter in our entire region?
Empowering a sustainable NSBE future: How can we nurture chapter revitalization, encourage membership retention, and plant the seeds for long-term growth across Region VI?
Mentoring our next generation of engineers and innovators: How can we uplift and guide our pre-collegiate members, ensuring the future of our society is strong, rooted, and thriving?

As leaders, we have the power to cultivate, support, and grow our community. How will you tend to the STEM? I am excited to journey alongside you this year through our programs and initiatives, strengthening our Region and foster meaningful connections across the Six House.

Keeping it Sixy,
Brianna Delgado Buchanan Carvalho

Don’t Miss the Opportunity to Elevate Yourself and Connect with the Best

We envision a world in which engineering is a mainstream word in homes and communities of color, and all Black students can envision themselves as engineers. In this world, Blacks exceed parity in entering engineering fields, earning degrees, and succeeding professionally.

The NSBE membership year spans August 1 – July 31.
