Letters from
the NSBE Leadership

Dear POW3RHOUSE Family,

I hope this message finds you well and recharged for the year ahead! As we step into this new NSBE year, I am filled with excitement and pride for what lies ahead for our region. Together, we are writing the next chapter of Region III’s legacy, one defined by impact, innovation, and unwavering commitment to our mission.

This year, our vision is MISSION POW3RHOUSE: Impact and Innovate — a call to action to build strong, lasting leadership, enhance the membership experience, and restore the energy that makes Region III a POW3RHOUSE.

We are focused on:

Impact & Legacy – Encouraging and training the next generation of leaders, increasing representation on boards, and ensuring every member understands NSBE’s value beyond the career fair.
Connectivity – Creating an engaging and inclusive environment for all demographics, supporting smaller chapters, fostering collaboration between chapters, and increasing member retention.
Innovation & Stability – Modernizing how we work, from resource repositories to technology adoption, supporting international students, NSBE Jr. programs, and preparing for the next 50 years of NSBE.

As you begin your school year, I encourage you to stay motivated, take care of yourselves, and stay engaged with your chapters. Whether this is your first semester as a NSBE member or you’ve been involved for years, you are part of a powerful community of future engineers, scientists, and innovators. Get involved in chapter events, connect with other members across the region, and know that you have a network here to support you every step of the way.

Let’s make this year unforgettable, for ourselves, for each other, and for the future of Region III.

Always R3ADY,

Shanissee Lee

Don’t Miss the Opportunity to Elevate Yourself and Connect with the Best

We envision a world in which engineering is a mainstream word in homes and communities of color, and all Black students can envision themselves as engineers. In this world, Blacks exceed parity in entering engineering fields, earning degrees, and succeeding professionally.

The NSBE membership year spans August 1 – July 31.

We open enrollment for the new membership cycle on May 1st each year which will allow members an additional 2 months to renew and receive benefits. Please note that membership subscriptions are not prorated. However, if you plan on renewing your membership mid-year to qualify for registration discounts or other benefits, that is fine. However, please be aware that renewing a membership following the Annual Convention will only grant you a subscription that lasts for only a month or less.
