The mission of NSBE is to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community.

We envision a world in which engineering is a mainstream word in homes and communities of color, and all Black students can envision themselves as engineers.

Our Impact
Each year, NSBE leaves a profound mark across various spheres. From the thousands of 3rd – 5th graders engaged in our national Summer Engineering Experience for Kids (SEEK) camps, to the 15,000 collegiate students honing their academic and technical skills, and the myriad of businesses led by our professionals daily, the impact of our organization is unmistakable.
Who We Are
The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is one of the largest student-led organizations in the U.S., with over 700 chapters and a membership of more than 24,000 worldwide. For over 50 years, NSBE has played a vital role in fostering innovation, supporting corporate leaders, guiding countless engineers to graduation, and enhancing STEM education for many K–12 students globally. NSBE members, chapters, and supporters are dedicated to creating a future where excellence and diversity thrive.

The NSBE membership year spans August 1 – July 31.
If you choose not to be affiliated with a chapter in your local area, you will be considered a member “At-Large," classified by your geographical region. Members At-Large receive the same national benefits as those who belong to a chapter.
